In a couple of weeks, we will be going on our annual trip to the apple orchard. To prepare for our trip, we love to learn all about apples and fill our day with creative apple activities. This Paper Plate Apple Lacing Activity is a fun, fall themed way for young children to work on developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
How To Make A Paper Plate Apple Lacing Activity:
Supplies:
- Paper Plate
- Red Paint
- Paint Brush
- Hole Punch
- Brown Construction Paper
- Green Construction Paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Yarn
This lacing craft is a simple and inexpensive activity to create. You probably have most of the supplies at home or in your classroom. If not, I found all of the supplies at my local Dollar Store.
Directions:
To begin, paint a paper plate with the red paint. To save time, you can use a red paper plate instead of painting a white one. The children might be interested in painting the plate, as well!
While the paint dries, cut the stem of the apple out of the brown construction paper and a leaf or two out of the green construction paper.
After the paint dries, punch holes that are about one inch apart around the rim of the paper plate. Next, glue the stem and leaf to the top of the paper plate.
After the glue dries, thread a piece of yarn or shoelace through one of the holes at the top of the paper plate. You can attach the yarn to the paper plate by wrapping it around the rim after threading it and tying a knot. This way, the children will not lose their piece of yarn.
This Paper Plate Apple Lacing Activity is a fun way for preschoolers to celebrate the beginning of fall. It is also a great activity to use to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
