Sick Policy

A child is too sick to come to preschool if he or she exhibits the following symptoms:

  • Fever of 100 or higher
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea (2 cases or more) or 1 episode accompanied by other symptoms
  • Severe coughing
  • Difficult or rapid breathing
  • Unusual spots or rashes
  • Lethargy
  • If a child is unable to participate with the class in the scheduled activities
  • If a child is too sick to play outside
  • Any other symptoms, which in my opinion, could be a contagious disease such as chicken pox, measles, impetigo, etc.

In order to return, the child must be symptom free for 12 hours without fever reducers. In the case that a virus is spreading among the other children, a child will need to be symptom free for 24 hours. A doctor’s release may be required in some instances.

You may use any available sick days if you notify me of your child’s absence by 9:00 a.m.

Medications

Any type of medication — over the counter, prescription, or homeopathic remedy — must be accompanied with a doctor’s note. Cold and cough medications are not allowed for any children under four years old.
