Need some perfect ocean songs for kids? If you’re planning a preschool ocean theme or are gearing up for summertime trips to the beach, they’re the perfect summer playlist for the home or classroom. You can grab more great music in our collection of the best songs for kids!
Ocean Songs for Kids
We’ve picked out some of our absolute favorite songs with an ocean theme. They’re sung by your favorite children’s musicians, like Raffi, Laurie Berkner, and Patti Shukla!
We love finding ocean songs that teach. Each engages the brain in a different way, whether it’s trying to remember when to stand up while singing “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean” or learning how to count to 5!
Plus, we’ll include fun ocean songs for preschool! All of these are perfect for preschool circle time and will become classics in your classroom or home.
To make your planning easier, we’ve created done-for-you lesson plans for both preschool and toddlers! They include detailed lesson plans as well as activities for many subjects and skills, from literacy and math to art and circle time. Each theme comes with recommended reading lists, songs, material lists, and more. Check out the Ocean lesson plan in our preschool store and the Under the Sea lesson plan in our toddler store!

How to Stream Music in the Classroom or at Home
If you want to get songs without the ads from YouTube, there are a couple simple solutions. You can click the songs directly from this post, and it should take away most of the ads. Screen it first to make sure it works for your needs.
If you are using just audio, I have Amazon Music Unlimited. It isn’t free, but well worth it for me because we use it each day between the classroom and home. If you would want to download more than 10 songs a month, it’s worth its weight in gold!
It’s compatible with your phone, electronic devices, Alexa, and computer. What’s great is that I can download the songs while I’m home on my phone using wifi with the Amazon Music app. Then the songs are always there on my phone, and I can play them in the classroom, the car, or anywhere else.
There is also a 2 million song music library with Amazon Prime. That’s how I started, but then I eventually switched to Amazon Music Unlimited because it has nearly every song.
Now, put on your flippers and let’s dive in!
Ocean Songs for Kids
The Goldfish (Let’s Go Swimming) by The Laurie Berkner Band
Let’s start off with a bang with one of my favorite songs with an ocean theme – The Goldfish! This song has it all: a catchy tune, fun actions and movement, and lots of laughter. If you haven’t heard it already, you’re missing out!
Baby Beluga by Raffi
This is possibly the most beloved ocean song for kids! I just adore this live recording of Raffi singing his classic. Your kids will love the “little white whale on the go” just as much as you did.
Crab Walk Song for Kids by Miss Nina
I just love it when songs can go along with great books! This one was inspired by Don’t Worry, Little Crab by Chris Haughton. Miss Nina gives musical instructions for how to walk like a crab, then sets you free across the sand!
Pirate Song for Children by Patty Shukla
I think that songs about pirates fit in really well with songs with an ocean theme! This one is just fun, and sometimes that’s all you need in a song! Join Patty and her merry gang as they sail away to find some treasures.
Ocean Songs that Teach
The Five Oceans by Jack Hartmann
Jack Hartmann can take any topic and make it into a clever, fun, and super educational song for kids! His song about the five oceans is one of the best preschool ocean songs.
A Sailor Went to Sea by Super Simple Songs
Super Simple Songs always has sweet, easy songs, but watch out – this one makes your brain work! The song adds ocean creatures one by one and then tests your memory to see if you can recall them all. Hint – they go from largest to smallest!
Bonnie Bounce by Dr. Jean
Kids might not be familiar with the song “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean,” but it’s super repetitive and easy to learn. Then you can add this fun twist: every time you sing the “b” sound, you have to stand up or sit down! It’s a musical workout for your brain!
5 Little Fish by Jack Hartmann
Learn to count to five with this fun ocean song! It’s got a fun rockin’ beat and some really cute visuals. I love it when we find quality songs that teach!
Ocean Songs for Preschool
The Fish in the Sea by Jbrary
Jbrary never disappoints! Here’s an easy song that’s perfect for a preschool circle time. It’s sung to the tune of “The Wheels on the Bus,” and since the kids will already know the melody, they’ll be much more likely to join in! It’s great with scarves, too.
Slippery Fish by Alina Celeste
This is one of the most popular preschool ocean songs written by Charlotte Diamond! Alina Celeste sings it here, and the song itself is adorable! It’s perfect for preschool circle time, as a fingerplay, when you have a few minutes when you need to keep your kids occupied, and of course as a preschool ocean theme activity!
Down in the Deep Blue Sea by Super Simple Songs
Here’s more of what you expect from Super Simple Songs! As their name claims, it’s a super simple song about the animals in the sea. Did you notice that the music changed after the verse about the jellyfish? That’s called a key change and I love them! It’s a wonderful way to recapture attention during a repetitive song, when your brain (or your preschooler’s brain!) may have started to wander.
Animals in the Ocean by The Kiboomers
An easy song set to the tune of “The Wheels on the Bus.” It’s another that’s perfect for preschool circle time – your kids can listen to the song and act out each animal’s movement. It would also be great with felt board or stuffed animal props to show each animal!
Baby Shark by Pinkfong
I mean…how do you not include Baby Shark on a list of ocean songs for preschool?? There are many versions out there now, but this is the one that started it all. See lots of other arrangements in our list of the best baby shark videos, including one for adults!
I hope you’ve loved splashing through this list of ocean songs for kids! For more awesome songs for kids, check out our list of preschool songs for circle time, movement and action songs, and songs that teach!
