Music is one of our favorite ways to teach. Songs can be used to teach any concept, and it’s proven that music makes children smarter! Learning through music is one of the best ways to help children remember what they learn. These space songs are a treasure trove of education! There are songs to teach the planet names and order, songs about the sun and moon, and even space songs that teach the alphabet!

Space Songs for Kids

We’ve picked out some of our absolute favorite outer space songs for kids. We start with songs about the solar system that teach the names and order of the planets, as well as one that teaches the planet names in Spanish!

Then we give you space songs specifically for toddlers. These are sweet and easy songs. They may teach some new concepts about outer space, such as gravity, but they’re specifically geared towards the youngest kids.

Then we end with fun space songs for preschool! These are a little more educational, using the concept of outer space to reinforce things like the alphabet or counting to 10. There are a few songs in there just for fun, too!

How to Stream Music in the Classroom or at Home

If you want to get songs without the ads from YouTube, there are a couple simple solutions. You can click the songs directly from this post, and it should take away most of the ads. Screen it first to make sure it works for your needs.

If you are using just audio, I have Amazon Music Unlimited. It isn’t free, but well worth it for me because we use it each day between the classroom and home. If you would want to download more than 10 songs a month, it’s worth its weight in gold!

It’s compatible with your phone, electronic devices, Alexa, and computer. What’s great is that I can download the songs while I’m home on my phone using wifi with the Amazon Music app. Then the songs are always there on my phone, and I can play them in the classroom, the car, or anywhere else.

There is also a 2 million song music library with Amazon Prime. That’s how I started, but then I eventually switched to Amazon Music Unlimited because it has nearly every song.

Solar System Songs for Kids

Solar System Song by Patty Shukla

Patty Shukla makes everything fun! She sings a fact about each planet, including the sun, then teaches their names in order.

Planets, Planets by Nancy Kopman

Nancy wrote this planet song specifically as a tool to help memorize the names of the planets, in order. It’s simple and repetitive, which kids just love because it helps them sing along – meaning they’ll learn the planet names and order in no time!

The Planets of Our Solar System Song by Hopscotch

This space song for kids manages to be super educational and also really engaging and clever! Each planet introduces itself and shares an interesting fact or two. They also include Pluto in a way that cracks me up every time.

The Eight Planets of the Solar System

Jack Hartmann never misses a chance to educate while having fun! I love how he shows the actual colors and relative sizes of each planet.

All the Planets by Laurie Berkner

Laurie Berkner’s song about planets is included on her album of lullabies. Who knew that learning about the solar system could be so soothing and relaxing?!

Kids Songs about the Planets by Alina Celeste

Learn the names of the planets of our solar system in Spanish with Alina Celeste! The entire song is in Spanish, but don’t fret if you’re not a fluent speaker – the words on the screen and the visuals make it easy to follow along.

Outer Space Songs for Toddlers

If You’re Going to the Moon by Jbrary

Jbrary is our go-to for fingerplays, chants, and circle time songs for toddlers and preschool! This one is three short verses set to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” Toddlers and preschoolers will love getting on their boots, helmet, and gloves to go to the moon.

Sun, Moon, and Stars by The Singing Walrus

This sweet little song is a breath of fresh air, and I love listening to it! A little chick sees the sun, moon, and stars up in space. She puts on her helmet, climbs into her rocket, and goes up just to say hi!

Astronauts! by Bounce Patrol

Join the Bounce Patrol friends on a mission of discovery in outer space! Encourage your kids to use their imaginations and play pretend to blast off and visit outer space.

Space Songs for Preschool

Rocketship Run by Laurie Berkner

If you’re unfamiliar with this beloved song, you’re missing out! Laurie’s songs are so engaging for kids but are never overly silly.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, We’re Going to the Moon by Kiboomers

This sweet little song is a classic! It’s super simple to learn and is even a rhyming song. Count backwards to blast off!

Climb Aboard the Spaceship by Jbrary

Kids use their imagination to get ready for space, then count backward from 10 to blast off. It’s set to the tune of Itsy Bitsy Little Spider. Setting new lyrics to familiar tunes is a brilliant way to engage kids instantly!

Countdown to Blastoff by Jack Hartmann

This preschool song about outer space is a learning powerhouse! You can use it as a listening exercise and have the kids pretend to follow each step. Or focus on the early math as you count to 10 and then back down again!

Alphabet Space by Bounce Patrol

Learn the ABC’s in outer space! The fun friends of Bounce Patrol teach not only the letter names but their sounds as well, as they point out things that start with each letter. A great alphabet song as well as a preschool space song!

The Moon by Nancy Kopman

There’s a ton of learning packed into this sweet little song! It’s perfect for a space theme and teaching about orbits, specifically how the moon orbits the sun.

Space Unicorn by Parry Gripp and Brianne Drouhard

Because every list of space songs for kids would be incomplete without a space unicorn. Silly songs are needed, too!

I hope you’ve loved this list of outer space songs for kids! For more great songs for kids, see our toddler songs, teacher-approved songs, and the ultimate guide to preschool songs!
