Introducing preschoolers to the school year through “All About Me” art activities is a wonderful way to create a welcoming and personalized learning environment. We have gathered the best engaging art activities tailored to preschoolers!
All About Me Art Activities for Preschool
These activities not only foster creativity but also help children feel comfortable and excited about starting preschool. They encourage self-expression, fine motor skills, and social interaction—all important aspects of early childhood development.
We love incorporating an all about me theme in preschool so much that we have created loads of helpful resources to teach this theme to the max!
Grab the free All About Me poster below to guide your preschoolers as they share how truly unique they are!
We’ve also got All About Me lesson plans for either preschoolers or toddlers in our preschool store or toddler store! And don’t miss the monthly self-portrait journal, available from Preschool Teacher 101.
All About Me Name Activities
Sticker dots have so many valuable uses in preschool and early childhood. They are fantastic for fine motor because they require children to peel them off the paper but they aren’t too hard to peel that they frustrate. Enter this rainbow name tracing activity! Write the child’s name in large print and invite them to decorate and form their letters using colorful sticker dots. The end result is always unique and filled with color!
Glitter glue to the rescue! Once it dries, it remains raised so it’s a very colorful way to practice tactile learning with letters and names. I write out each child’s name in glitter glue on an index card then invite the child to trace the letters in their name. There are other more advanced variations of this DIY name activity for your more advanced preschoolers too!
With just a few household ingredients, this no-mess sensory bottle always excites our preschoolers! They feel so special creating their names and absolutely love helping with the hair gel and setting up their names in order so they can read it through the bottle. After shaking, it will be all scrambled up and fun!
We love using a felt letter board for practicing names! It’s definitely enticing for preschoolers to use and ours uses all capital letters so it’s a great starting place for building names. The letters stick easily so there is no frustration and my preschoolers love using it as a center!

These button portraits are so fun! The colorful buttons add interest and excitement and make these paper plate portraits a special keepsake. Plus… all that pinching and picking up buttons makes for great fine motor development!
Me in the Mirror Art Activity by Preschool Steam
Let your preschoolers get up close and personal with this mirror art activity. Then wipe it clean and start over! This is a kid favorite!

This is a great use of nature and a beautiful way to celebrate the beauty around us and inside us. Using any materials you can find on a nature hunt, your preschoolers can create beautiful renditions of themselves and will be delighted with the results!
All About Me Self Portraits
Self Portrait Collage by Fantastic Fun and Learning
This self-portrait is all about focusing on different textures! It’s perfect for sensory exploration and fine motor as preschool fingers feel and interact with rough sandpaper, smooth cardboard, bumpy beads, soft yarn, and hard buttons. All these elements come together to make a fun and creative self-portrait!

These clear frame drawings make for so much more than just portrait art. These clear drawings invite children to interact with each other, identify parts of the face, and bond with each other through a silly, zany activity.
Self Portrait by Play to Learn Preschool
This creative and artistic self-portrait is such a memorable keepsake and a true expression of process art and creativity. Children draw themselves using a black permanent marker and then cut it out and glue it onto a lovely painted canvas!
All About Me Tissue Paper Self Portraits by Hudsonville Art Program
I LOVE this tissue paper project because the background is filled with such beautiful and colorful tiles and the self portraits are carefully drawn out. I love that the teacher ensured that the children thought about their features before drawing and used that thinking to guide their real-life versions of themselves. This one is a keeper!
