All About Me Songs
Young children sure love to talk about themselves… and it’s completely developmentally appropriate at this age! Young children learn first through their own feelings and making connections between themselves and others. Teaching children to share their likes and dislikes helps other children see how we all are different yet unique in our own way.

I Am Special Songs
Enjoy these sweet songs that encourage children to realize how wonderful, special, and unique they each are!
I Am Special | Sesame Street
Grover has just realized that he is unique and special, and can’t wait to share that knowledge with you! He also can’t wait to tell you that YOU are special too. It’s an adorable and heartfelt song!
What I Am | Sesame Street
A really inspiring song from our Sesame Street friends along with Will.i.am. How can you not love the lyrics, “What I am is…thoughtful, musical, smart, brave, and helpful!” A great song that celebrates all the attributes that make kids special!
Body Parts Songs
Our body parts are part of what makes us who we are! These fun all about me songs include lots of movement and are a great way to learn and reinforce the names of body parts.
Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes | The Learning Station
Of course, this song is a classic! But stay on your toes – our friends at The Learning Station add some fun variations on the song that will keep your kids laughing! Have you ever tried “neck, elbows, hips, and feet?”
Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes | The Learning Station
If you’re looking for a more traditional version of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes, this is the one for you! They even feature the ever-popular, “sing it faster!” version at the end.
Me! | Super Simple Songs
Learn the parts of the body, as well as some simple movements, along with Super Simple Songs! The melody and motions are simple to follow. It’s a perfect song for an All About Me theme.
This is ME! | Elf Learning
Another body parts song that goes beyond the standard “head, shoulders, knees and toes.” It’s fairly repetitive, which is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers!
5 Fingers | Nancy Kopman
“Thumb, index, middle, ring, and pinky!” Our friend Nancy teaches the names of each finger with a sweet and simple melody. As an added bonus, she also includes counting forwards and backwards to five.
You can see many more of Nancy’s fun educational songs in our post Preschool Songs for Circle Time.
Family and Friends Songs
A big part of an All About Me Preschool theme is talking about our friends, families, and pets. Here are some great songs to go along with those topics.
We Are a Family | Jack Hartmann
Jack Hartmann uses sign language to describe different families and some of the things we do together. We laugh, play, sing, hope – “we’re all different people, living together with love!” He also includes pictures of real families.
Make New Friends Song | The Learning Station
Former (and current) Girl Scouts will remember the lyrics of this one – “make new friends, but keep the old!” The Learning Station has added a new groovy melody and some sweet animations.
Friends Song | The Singing Walrus
This song is in a call and response style, making it super easy for kids to sing along even the first time! It features relatable school situations when kids are thankful to have friends alongside them. The tune is incredibly simple and catchy!
I Have a Pet | Super Simple Songs
Super Simple Songs lives up to their name with this super simple – and sweet – song about pets! Two kids share their pets with each other and tell the sounds that they make. It’s great for learning the names and sounds of common household pets in an engaging way.
Feelings and Emotions Songs
Of course, our feelings are a big part of who we are! Here are some great songs that describe and model our feelings. Don’t miss the Laurie Berkner song at the end!
Feelings and Emotions Song | Miss Patty
Patty takes us through the emotions happy, confused, bored, mad, surprised, shy, loved, sad, and more! She has kids model what each emotion looks like, keeping them relatable. There’s a fun reggae beat that will keep your kids engaged in the song!
Emotions Hokey Pokey | The Kiboomers
A super fun way to play with some common emotions! Play the emotions hokey pokey. It’s a great All About Me movement song.
The Story of My Feelings | Laurie Berkner
I love Laurie Berkner’s take on a feelings and emotions song for kids. It’s a little slower and more mellow than the other feelings songs, with a very sweet melody. It shows how crying, laughing, yelling, and sighing help all of us move through our emotions and eventually feel better.
