November 22, 2013 by Katie T. Christiansen Leave a Comment

Here is another Moment with Marta. This time it's a *magical* moment, and I am soaking it all in before we head to Disney World in the spring.   We just returned from our Florida vacay with our littles…including a 2-day visit to the Magic Kingdom.  I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity that we were able to provide to our boys – 5 ½ and 3 ½.  While there are some AH-MAZING View Post

The Gift of You

November 19, 2013 by Katie T. Christiansen 2 Comments

"If you want your children to turn out well,  spend twice as much time with them, and half as much money." Abigail Van Buren As I live in the midst of a society that wants to provide children will all the right tools, toys, and gadgets to succeed, I have to constantly remind myself that all the items in a store are just things. These all will break, get lost, and lose their worth. Nothing is as View Post

The Store in My Closet

November 15, 2013 by Katie T. Christiansen 3 Comments

How would you like to give great children's gifts without spending a lot? Ever since I realized how many birthday parties there are to attend each year when you have kids, I knew I had to figure out a more affordable way! Spending $15-$25 on a birthday gift adds up! In just a nine day span this month, we have gone to five birthday parties (these don't even include my own son). November is View Post

Being a Thoughtful Gift Giver

November 12, 2013 by Katie T. Christiansen 2 Comments

The holidays are right around the corner, and I have been thinking about what I am giving as gifts for several months. Yes, I definitely start early because there are some people on my holiday gift list that require a lot of brainstorming. Years ago, I resolved that gifts from me would be a meaningful experience. If I give a gift to someone, I want them to be able to use it, cherish it, or find View Post

Preschool Toolbox

November 8, 2013 by Katie T. Christiansen 4 Comments

I cannot even tell you how much time I have completely wasted trying to find something for my preschool class or my own children. Usually the smaller the item is, the harder I have to look to find it. Teachers could be described as selective hoarders. We have to keep so many supplies around, and it's so easy to find a "must have curriculum item" at the store and say "oh, I will use View Post

Fall Montessori Ideas

November 1, 2013 by Katie T. Christiansen 3 Comments

We have "Montessori Thursdays" at my in home preschool, and I look forward to them EVERY week. This is my first school year implementing Montessori practical life activities, and I wish I had started doing this years ago! Window Writing

October 29, 2013 by Katie T. Christiansen 4 Comments

Window writing is a great way to work on literacy skills on a vertical surface! For awhile now I have been trying to come up with a good place and method for a word wall. I wanted something that would stand out in my preschooler's minds. I have spent months looking through school supply stores for "the perfect word wall." One night while I was at Mardel (a local school supply store), I picked View Post
