Conversation Heart Color Match

January 15, 2015 by Katie T. Christiansen 9 Comments

Candy games are some of my favorites, and this one is a conversation candy heart color matching busy bag. At first I thought of making it a little complex, but then that went out the window. Simplicity is really my specialty because I'm not loaded with time, and I know that neither are you. All you need for this Valentine's Day busy bag is a box or two of conversation hearts and some sort of View Post

Snow Dough Small World

January 12, 2015 by Katie T. Christiansen Leave a Comment

We are joining in on the fun of making sensory doughs with some blogging friends, and I really need this. In all honesty, I overthink messy play. I think of the prep, the mess, the possible accidents, the aftermath, the potential chaos -- and it slightly overwhelms me. So I'm committing to making a different dough each month in 2015 because all of the mess, the prep, and the headache are always View Post

How to Increase Enrollment in a Preschool or Child Care Program

December 30, 2014 by Katie T. Christiansen 19 Comments

I know of so many wonderful childcare and preschool programs that are just waiting for the perfect families to find them. Some of them struggle to find clients despite the high quality and super affordable prices. They are diamonds in the rough, and I know that if they had the right tools, they would be constantly getting calls and inquiries. Where I live, in home providers were shutting down View Post

How to Save a Dried Out Marker

December 27, 2014 by Katie T. Christiansen 6 Comments

I used to just throw away a dried out marker. Now, I save a dried out marker in three easy steps. This is one of those tricks I wish I would have done ages ago. I can't even imagine how many markers I've thrown out thinking they were useless when they actually had lots of life left in them. It doesn't matter if it's a fine point marker, dry-erase marker, or a chubby marker. I was able to give View Post

Natural-Dye Liquid Watercolor

December 5, 2014 by Katie T. Christiansen Leave a Comment

I have been waiting to do this Natural-Dye Liquid Watercolor recipe for months! We use liquid watercolor weekly, and it is one of my all-time favorite items to have around. When my friend Asia, the writer of Fun at Home With Kids, told me that she had figured out how to make liquid watercolor with natural ingredients, I knew I had to try it. She mentioned that the recipe for natural dye liquid View Post

Educational Gifts for Children

November 25, 2014 by Katie T. Christiansen Leave a Comment

As a teacher I love to give educational gifts as often as possible. Some items are great for a season, but educational gifts can be wonderful for years and easily be passed along to other children once the child has outgrown them. I'm going to share with you my top rated picks which are teacher and parent approved. I don't use television in the classroom often, but when I do, I have one tried View Post

Candy Cane Stripe Counting

November 20, 2014 by Katie T. Christiansen 6 Comments

Candy canes are pretty irresistible, so this has been the perfect counting busy bag. It was a cinch to make, and all of my kiddos absolutely love it. I found solid colored candy canes at the grocery store then curled pipe cleaners/chenille stems around them and trimmed them. The edges were a bit sharp so I pushed them down as well as possible. So far no one has complained about them, so that's View Post
